Hotels
All hotels, motor lodges or motor inns in New Zealand have bar & restaurant facilities. The room facilities include bathroom, tea & coffee making facilities, TV, hairdryer, ironing facilities and often a minbar and room service.
World-class hotels are to be found in the major cities or tourist resort destinations. The amenities vary and are reflected in the tariffs. Some include gymnasiums, spa, sauna, swimming pools, business & conference facilities.
Smaller character hotels, or pubs are generally found in provisional/rural areas and sometimes include historical elements within the establishment. Hosts will often invite you to join other guests in a warm, friendly lounge enviroment or outside courtyard in summer. “Pubs”, sometimes also known as “taverns” generally do not provide accommodation, but are worth a visit en-route just to enjoy a good kiwi beer, nice regional wine or some wholesome New Zealand food.
